After years of learning English, I still struggled with even basic conversations.

All that time spent studying didn't help much in real life. Schools teach theory, but time for speaking is limited.

The truth is, you only learn a language by actually speaking it.

Look at kids. Listen, repeat, talk. Get a little feedback. They just start chatting without even realizing it.

Everything else follows naturally: grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

The key is consistent speaking. Ideally being fully immersed in a country, living among locals.

But that's not always possible, and finding people to practice with is not easy.

So, I began using ChatGPT to improve my English, 10 minutes a day in voice mode. It seemed pretty promising.

Talking continuously, as if I had a personal tutor with me, takes deep focus. Yet the progress was noticeable.

I could feel my speaking flow becoming smoother. More natural.

But ChatGPT kept asking the same questions, often ignoring my prompt. The conversations felt mechanical.

If you've tried using ChatGPT to learn a language you know what I mean... After a few minutes it's back to "How are you today?", like it forgot who it is.

That's when I decided to build the application I needed back then.

It's called LocaLoca.

1. Agreement

LocaLoca is a mobile application designed for language learning by speaking practice.

By using our service, you agree to these terms. Minors under 13 need parent consent.

2. Usage Guidelines

You agree to use the service responsibly and will not engage in any form of abuse, including but not limited to:

● Attempt to bypass technical limitations
● Use automated systems or bots

3. Data Collection & Privacy

We are committed to protecting your privacy.

We collect and process the following data to provide and improve our service:

● Information used for account creation provided via Apple or Google authentication
● Settings you choose within the app, as well as activity, progress, and analytics data used to customize your experience
● Chat history is limited to the current active session only, and is deleted after 1 day
● Chat data is processed in real-time by AI providers (servers are located in the United States) for speech functionality

4. Data Sharing

Your conversational data, including voice recordings, is processed by AI providers (Gemini, OpenAI, Groq, Azure)

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes

5. Data Protection

● All data is encrypted in transit
● No data related to your conversations (including voice recordings and chat history) is ever permanently stored by LocaLoca

6. Your Rights

You have the right to request:

● Access to your personal data held by LocaLoca, including account creation information, your in-app settings, and learning activity
● Deletion of your account and associated data

To exercise these rights, please contact us (see Contact Us section below).

7. Service Availability

We aim for high uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.

We reserve the right to:

● Modify or discontinue features
● Perform maintenance when required

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as needed.

Major changes will be notified through the app.

9. Eligibility & Payments

● A valid Apple App Store or Google Play Store account is required for access.
● Payment authorization through these accounts is necessary for subscriptions.
● Payments are processed as monthly or annual subscriptions via the respective app stores.
● Refunds, if applicable, are handled according to the policies of the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

10. Account Termination

Account and data management, including termination, follows standard app store terms and our data retention policies.

Upon account termination initiated by you or us, all app-specific data linked to your account will be deleted in accordance with our data protection practices.
